Tai Chi for Everyone

Lori Kerrigan, certified in Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention from the Tai Chi Health Institute, teaches dynamic and fun Tai Chi classes for people of all ages.

Her focus includes Tai Chi for balance, pain remediation, and overall well-being.

Lori teaches both group classes in Fort Lauderdale as well as private classes for individuals and small groups.

What is Tai Chi?

Tai Chi is a safe, low-impact, slow-motion, gentle form of exercise with no fancy equipment needed. Originally developed for self-defense, Tai Chi has evolved into a graceful form of exercise that’s now used for stress reduction and a variety of other health conditions.

Often described as “meditation in motion,” Tai Chi is a way to help relax the mind and mobilize the body’s energy while promoting serenity through gentle, flowing movements in a noncompetitive, self-paced system of gentle physical exercise and stretching.

Why Do Tai Chi?

Take a step toward helping to improve and maintain your strength, flexibility, and balance by practicing Tai Chi and Qigong exercises with a group of Tai Chi enthusiasts! Tai Chi is great for people of all ages but can be especially effective for helping with arthritis and fall prevention.

Tai Chi improves balance, confidence, and muscular strength. Many studies have shown Tai Chi as being one of the most effective approaches for preventing falls. Additionally, over 30 published medical studies demonstrate that Tai Chi diminishes pain, improves balance, and decreases falls.

What to Expect in Lori’s Fort Lauderdale Class

Classes are held Monday, Wednesday and Thursday at ArtServe located at
1350 E Sunrise Blvd, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301.

Monday and Wednesday classes are based on Sun style tai chi.

The class is very instructional.

This Sun style Tai Chi focuses on gentle movements to help with balance and fall prevention. Qigong exercises are practiced in the first part of the class. These movements make up the components of the Sun Style Tai Chi practiced in the second half of the class.

Thursday’s class is Yang style tai chi.

The class is follow-along vs instructional.

This Yang 24 Form Tai Chi class is informal and casual as we help guide each other to practice Qigong and Tai Chi movements.

Qigong exercises are practiced in the first part of the class and these movements make up the components of the Yang 24 form practiced in the second half of the class.

CLASS PRICING:

All in-person group classes are $20 per class, per person.

What is Qigong?

Qigong exercises consist of a series of movements that include body posture/movement and breathing designed to enhance the flow of Qi, an energy force thought to flow through the body.

Who practices Qigong and Tai Chi?

ANYBODY and EVERYBODY who wants to experience more balance and flexibility with a low-impact, slow-motion, gentle form of exercise.

Tai Chi is low impact and puts minimal stress on muscles and joints, making it generally safe for all ages and fitness levels.

Although Tai Chi is generally safe, women who are pregnant or people with joint problems, back pain, fractures, severe osteoporosis, or a hernia should consult their health care provider before trying Tai Chi. Modification or avoidance of certain postures may be recommended.

Private Tai Chi Lessons With Lori

In addition to her group lessons in Fort Lauderdale, Lori also provides private Tai Chi lessons to small groups and individuals of all ages, with a strong focus on Tai Chi for arthritis and fall prevention.

Lori’s Tai Chi lessons can also help individuals with various other health conditions, including stress and anxiety, depression, insomnia, muscle and joint pain, degenerative diseases, and other health issues.

Lori provides in-person lessons to individuals and small groups in the Fort Lauderdale area, as well as remote lessons to individuals and small groups all around the world.
